Sarajevo to Jahorina transfer
Jahorina is our shortest ski run — 28 kilometres east out of central Sarajevo, 35 to 40 minutes door-to-gondola in normal winter conditions. We handle this route constantly in season (December through March) because it is the fastest way onto snow for guests landing at SJJ airport, staying in the old town, or doing a winter Sarajevo city break that includes a day on the mountain. For full winter driving and gondola dropoff specifics, see our Jahorina ski transfer hub.
The mountain hosted the women's alpine events at the 1984 Winter Olympics — downhill, slalom, and giant slalom all ran on Jahorina, while the men's alpine races happened on neighbouring Bjelasnica. Four decades later the resort has grown substantially: the ski area now runs between 1,300 and 1,916 metres elevation, with more than a dozen lifts and conveyors, two gondolas (Poljice and Partizan), and recent expansion connecting the Trnovo slopes. The main base at Poljice sits around 1,550 metres and concentrates the hotels, rental shops, and gondola access in one walkable cluster.
Summer works too. From June through September, Jahorina swaps skiers for hikers, mountain bikers, and paragliders, and the short transfer makes it easy to combine a morning on the mountain with dinner back in Sarajevo.

PremiumWhat the road looks like
We leave central Sarajevo east through Lukavica. Quick administrative note for first-time visitors: Lukavica is part of Istočno Sarajevo, which sits in the Republika Srpska entity of Bosnia and Herzegovina. You cross the entity line within a few minutes of departure, but there is no border, no passport check, no stop — it is an internal BiH administrative division that does not affect travellers. From Lukavica the road climbs steadily on a well-maintained two-lane through pine forest, passing the southern edge of Pale town after about 20 kilometres. At the Pale-Jahorina fork we turn right and begin the mountain ascent proper, a series of switchbacks up the northern slope through dense spruce.
The final kilometres deliver you to Poljice — the main resort area where Hotel Termag, Aparthotel Vučko, and the Poljice gondola base station cluster along the main access road. On clear days the ascent gives views back west across the Sarajevo basin and east toward the Romanija massif. In heavy winter the road is ploughed and gritted daily by Pale municipal services; our vehicles run winter tyres from November through April as standard, and we can fit chains on request if conditions are unusual.
What to expect
Pickup is from any Sarajevo or Istočno Sarajevo address, including Sarajevo International Airport (SJJ). The airport is actually slightly closer to Jahorina than central Sarajevo is — 30 kilometres versus 28 — so airport-to-slope transfers are direct, about 40 minutes without the city detour. Your driver meets you in the arrivals hall with a name sign.
Ski and snowboard equipment is transported at no extra charge. Skis, snowboards, poles, boots, helmets, and gear bags all fit in our standard sedan or minivan; tell us how many sets of equipment you are bringing at booking so we assign the right vehicle size. During ski season our vehicles carry winter tyres as standard equipment.
Drop-off is at your hotel entrance in the Poljice area — Termag, Aparthotel Vučko, and the other main resort hotels all have direct vehicle access right at the lobby. If you prefer to head straight to the slopes, we drop at the Poljice gondola base station instead. For the return leg, you can book a fixed departure time or use a flexible "call when ready" arrangement where you message your driver when you are done on the mountain.
